We realize that this graduation is different, to say the least - here are a few ways to help you celebrate your accomplishment

BYU Graduation-Themed Virtual Backdrops

This gallery is exclusively available to students graduating this year.

You can use them on Zoom:

  1. Sign in to Zoom desktop client
  2. Click "Settings"
  3. Click "Virtual Background"
  4. Click on an image to select the desired virtual background or add your own image by clicking "+Add Image"
  5. To disable Virtual Background, choose the option "None"
  6. Unclick the "Mirror My Video" box at the bottom of the preferences screen

You can use them in photoshop:

  1. Select a photo of yourself, preferably of you facing the camera
  2. Extract (cut) yourself out of the picture
  3. Once you are satisfied with the extraction, export it as a .PNG with a transparent background. (File -> Export, select .png under format and check the box next to "show transparency"). Save the picture onto your desktop or in a folder where you can easily locate it
  4. Open a BYU Background image in Photoshop
  5. Place your extracted image onto the background. (File-> Place linked, locate your .png file and click "Place")
  6. The picture is now on top of the background. If the size of your .png needs adjusting, go to Edit -> Transform, click on "Scale"
  7. Now drag a corner to resize the image. Click within the image to reposition it
  8. Save the image as a .JPEG by going to File -> Save As. Under Format options, select JPEG, and save the picture in a location where you can locate it for printing or using on social media

Virtual Grad Cap

Some of you may not have a cap to celebrate in. No worries, this virtual cap has you covered.

You can use it in Photoshop:

  1. Download the file GraduationCap.png, and save it on your desktop
  2. Select a photo of yourself, preferably of you facing the camera
  3. Place GraduationCap.png onto the selfie portrait (File -> Place linked), locate your GraduationCap.png file, and click Place
  4. The GraduationCap.png is now on top of the background. If the size of your .png needs adjusting, go to Edit -> Transform, click on "Scale"
  5. Now drag a corner to resize the cap. Click within the image to reposition it
  6. Save the image as a .JPEG by going to File -> Save As. Under Format options, select JPEG, and save the picture in a location where you can locate it for printing or using on social media

We've dropped the cap in a BYU graduation-themed background, so you can use it on Zoom.

  1. Sign in to Zoom desktop client
  2. Click "Settings"
  3. Click "Virtual Background"
  4. Click on an image to select the desired virtual background or add your own image by clicking "+Add Image"
  5. To disable Virtual Background, choose the option "None"
  6. Unclick the "Mirror My Video" box at the bottom of the preferences screen
