3 Simple Steps to Organizing Your International Chapter

Step 1

Find Local Alumni and Friends of BYU

Contact the alumni association for the most recent records of alumni in your area. Then seek out people who love BYU.  Many successful chapter chairs have sent e-mails and mailers to attract alumni and friends.

Step 2

Hold a Start-up Meeting

Discuss what is needed to create and maintain a chapter. Develop a chapter plan including goals, leadership roles and activities. Click here for an outline of this meeting.

Step 3

Plan and Host an Opening Event for Alumni and Friends

You can sponsor a potluck dinner for prospective BYU students and their parents, host a fireside featuring a prominent speaker, gather to watch a satellite broadcast (even if tape-delayed,) or any other activity that suits the needs of your chapter. Announce your next meeting here. To see more suggestions regarding chapter activities, click here.

Now that your chapter has been organized, you should have at least two meetings per year to review your agenda and reunite with former Cougars and friends of BYU.
