Time

As BYU students we are, as President Hinckley said, “so richly blessed
with a great and precious opportunity.” With this great opportunity
comes great responsibility to give back to our
university, to those around us, and to the Lord.
Giving back does not start after we graduate. In fact, postponing our
giving makes it less likely to ever occur. Instead, we should start
giving of our time now so that giving can become an enduring habit.
This website is a compendium of opportunities for students to give for
their time both on and off campus to return and give back.
Giving does not have to be monetary. Whether you give of your
time, your talent, or your treasure, the important thing is that you use your time to start giving now.
Talent
Brigham Young University has one of the most talented
student bodies in the country. More than 75% of BYU students speak a
foreign language and BYU’s internationally acclaimed performing groups
have produced over 12,000 shows across the world.
Additionally, BYU athletic teams have won a combined 10 national
titles including Football, Men’s Volleyball, and Cross Country. BYU
also has an outstanding intramural programs; over 25,000 students
participate in more than 30 different sports.
We have all been blessed with many talents. The gospel
teaches us that we should use these talents to better the lives of
others, “That every man may improve upon his talent, that every man may
gain other talents, yea, even an hundred fold (D&C 82:18).”
Treasure
From Dee Allsop, Former BYU Alumni Association President:
I developed a deep streak of blue in my veins from the
years I attended Brigham Young University. To this day, I still get
excited as I come over the point of the mountain on my way to the BYU
Campus. So much happened here for me and I owe much of who I am to
the people and experiences that blessed my life at BYU.
It is a debt I love paying back because it keeps me close
to the special people of BYU and spirit of the Y and continues to bless my
life today. Giving back to BYU of your time, talent, and treasure is a
choice you make that can also bless your life today as students.
Deepen your relationship with the Y while you are still at school
and build the kind of habit that will cultivate the spirit of the Y to be a
life long relationship and blessing in your life.
Yours is the responsibility and blessing as Student Alumni to "Enter
to Learn," "Go Forth to Serve" and then "Return to Give Back."
