Parents Guide
Things to do in December-
- With finals approaching, your student will probably be experiencing some anxiety. Once again, it wouldn't hurt to encourage your student to maintain a balance of healthy meals, regular exercise, and adequate rest in addition to their scholastic and social demands.
- Because of the close interaction surrounding on-campus life and the campus community, germs are easily spread. You may recommend that your student receive a flu shot. (Refer your student to the Student Health Center, 422-2771.)
- Offer support to your student by phoning or sending an e-mail. A simple "Finals Survival Package" containing favorite treats is a real morale booster.
- Encourage your student to plan now for spring or summer enrollment. These terms offer smaller class sizes, increased opportunity for scholarships, and an accelerated path toward graduation. Registration for spring/summer term begins February 1.
- If your student is planning to apply for a BYU short-term loan, they should do so as soon as possible.
- The deadline for continuing student scholarship applications for spring and summer term is fast approaching. If your student is planning to attend spring or summer term, have your student apply now for a scholarship.
- Before leaving campus for the break, students should get an updated copy of their Progress Report, and print a final copy of their winter class schedule. Remind your student to bring the schedule with your student in January.
- Congratulate your student--they've just survived their first semester at BYU!
