Things to do in March-
- This is the time of year when students begin to think about living arrangements for next fall. Encourage your student to decide whether they would like to live on or off campus. Now is the time to find an apartment or to sign up for on-campus housing.
- Priority registration for fall semester begins at the beginning of April. Your student can find their date to register on the registration page in AIM. Encourage your student to meet with their College Advisement Center this month to discuss their schedule for next fall.
- If your student is planning on deferring enrollment for a mission or any other reason, please remind your student to defer their enrollment through the Admissions Office. By deferring, they will be able to return to school without having to reapply. It is necessary to have your mission call before deferring enrollment for a mission. You should receive a missionary packet from your student containing the information you will need to register for your student when they are ready to return to school. Remind your student to fill out a packet, and file it in a secure place. You will need this!
- Students have a tendency to get a little distracted this time of year. Not only are they getting tired of studying, they are also easily influenced by friends or roommates who want to go south to escape the last of the Utah winter. Encourage your student to "hang in there." The end is in sight.
- General Conference is coming up. One of the benefits of Brigham Young University is the close proximity to Salt Lake City and all of the conference activities. Encourage your student to take advantage of the opportunity to attend at least one of the sessions at the Conference Center.
