In February, BYU Connect hosted Grant Drivas, a Senior Enterprise Customer Success Manager at WEVO AI, for an insightful discussion on how to prepare for and excel in job interviews. With experience at Porsche, Qualtrics, and WEVO AI, Grant shared expert advice on what hiring managers look for and how candidates can stand out in a competitive job market.

Grant emphasized that a successful interview starts long before you step into the room. Preparation is key—research the company, practice answering common questions, and develop clear examples of your skills and experiences. He highlighted the importance of storytelling, explaining that strong candidates don’t just list their accomplishments; they articulate their impact in a compelling way.

2. The Hiring Manager’s Perspective: What Employers Look For

Understanding what hiring managers value can give candidates an edge. Grant discussed the qualities employers seek, including adaptability, problem-solving, and cultural fit. He also shared insights into common mistakes candidates make—such as focusing too much on themselves rather than aligning their responses with the company’s needs.

3. Beyond the Interview: Networking & Follow-Ups That Make a Difference

An interview doesn’t end when you walk out the door. Grant stressed the importance of following up with a personalized thank-you email, reinforcing key points from the conversation. He also encouraged students to build long-term relationships with professionals in their field through networking, informational interviews, and staying engaged with industry trends.
