"Find Mentors, Jobs, and More with BYU Connect" with Alexa Anderson

In January, BYU Connect had the privilege of partnering with Alexa Anderson, Alumni Marketing Manager at BYU. Our discussion with Alexa provided valuable insights into the importance of networking and how BYU Connect can help users gain valuable connections by using the platform's tools and messaging features.

1) Alexa's Story

Alexa began by sharing her career journey, which has solely consisted of doors opened to her by networking. Because of this, she's passionate about teaching people how to network, especially on BYU Connect.

2) Navigating BYU Connect

Alexa guided webinar participants through different features on the platform, highlighting the Connect tab, School page, and search function. She encouraged users to take advantage of the different filters connected to the search feature to find relevant users by industry, degree, and location.

3) Crafting a Message

After showing users how to use the templates available when crafting a message, she demonstrated how to write a message tailored to a specific question. This tutorial can be found in the webinar recording, linked at the top of the page.

Alexa Anderson

Alexa Anderson is the Alumni Marketing Manager at BYU. Joining the Alumni Relations team in June 2023, she comes to BYU with over eight years of marketing and communications experience. Most recently Alexa served as the Chief of Staff and Head of Communications at Bucked Up, and prior to that spent four years in Atlanta at AMB Sports + Entertainment, the parent company of the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta United and Mercedes-Benz Stadium. She also spent a year in New York City at Kovert Creative, a full-service marketing and communication agency after graduating from BYU in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in public relations. Originally from Orem, Utah, she loves traveling, spending time with her family and playing golf.
