Jim Trent
Vice President of College Directors, and College Director of Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering
Jim Trent is currently the Assistant Dean for external relations for BYU’s Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering and Technology. Previously, he has acted as the external relations manager for the BYU Department of Mechanical Engineering. His current responsibilities at BYU include student placement, alumni relations, internships, fundraising and college development. Prior to joining BYU, Jim worked as a manufacturing engineer for Compaq Computer Corporation specializing in world-wide facilities environmental waste reduction. Jim was co-founder of Wolf Electronix Corporation in 1996, an electronics manufacturing services company, and was President through 2008. He grew Wolf Electronix from startup to over $20M in annual revenue. In 2002, his business was awarded the fastest growing company in Utah and was No. 164 in the nation on the Inc. 500 list of the fastest growing companies. He sold the company to a larger electronics manufacturer in 2008. Jim was employed as Vice President and General Manager for Computrol prior to coming to BYU in 2011. Jim completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology and a Master of Business Administration degree.
