John has classical training as a brand marketer and P&L manager and over a decade of experience leading brand growth in the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry at Conagra Brands (Omaha and Chicago) and Bellisio Foods (Minneapolis). He led growth, turnaround, and new launch strategies on major brands such as Marie Callender’s, Banquet, Kid Cuisine, PF Chang’s, Boston Market, and Atkins. While at Conagra, John spearheaded the launch of a new “Mega” brand that surpassed $200MM in sales.

He joined the Petsource team in May of this year to put rigor into its marketing efforts and to define a new opportunity to build a consumer facing brand using our new manufacturing asset in Seward. His goal is to develop a dog food brand that has a unique position in market and one that will lead to sustainable long-term growth with attractive margins for the company. His expertise is in strategy, consumer marketing, innovation, and general management.

John’s professional passions include team building, public speaking, and relationships. At age 25, he became the youngest certified Dale Carnegie Course instructor in the world at the time. While leading the on campus recruiting efforts at Conagra, John was a perennial guest lecturer for the Consumer Marketing Academy at Indiana University.

John and his wife, Amber, have philanthropic goals to ease local hunger and advance education for more people. These goals have led to engagement in leadership positions at church, food banks, and his undergrad college national alumni board.

With a wife, five kids, and a dog, John’s main hobbies revolve around supporting family activities and staying fit enough to keep up with everyone else. John has completed 10 Tough Mudder physical challenge courses across the US. He also enjoys the outdoors and recently led a group of teenagers on a multi-day backpacking trip to Isle Royale National Park and came back with every one of them.
