A Guide for Hosting Small Events

You don’t need to host a large-scale event such as a 5K or golf tournament to meet True Blue requirements for your chapter! Small-scale events such as student sendoffs, watch parties, family BBQs, and JustServe service projects are a great way for Alumni in your chapter to connect with students, other alumni, and the community. Below you will find the items we suggest you get to host a great small-scale event!

Swag

Food

1. Large platter of cookies, sandwiches, or other treats 
2. Can be purchased at your local grocery store, Costco, or Sam’s club. 
3. You can also ask people to bring food to share. 

Games

1. If hosting outside; yard games such as spike ball, cornhole, KanJam, frisbee, etc. 
   
   1. Spikeball set 
   2. Kanjame set 
2. If hosting inside: board games, card games, video games, Kahoot, etc.

Decorations

1. BYU branded flags, chapter banners, and other BYU themed items 
2. Blue and White tablecloths: can be purchased from amazon or from local party or dollar store. 
   
   1. Blue tablecloth from Amazon (6 pack)

3. Balloons can be purchased from local party, dollar, or grocery stores. 

Serving Utensils

1. Blue and white cups

Music

Have speakers to set up and play music during the event. Don’t forget to play the fight song!!

If your chapter is spread out across a large distance, and it is difficult to gather to host an event. Consider asking anyone who is a BYU fan to host a watch party, student send off, or other event so that your chapter can still meet throughout the geographic area. The chapter would ask 2-3 people to host these watch parties - at their house, or church cultural hall (with permission), or at a park, etc. And provide the host with a “watch party in a box” supplies.
